"The Phantom of the Opera!....."

June 13, 2011
Yay! Monday! Adrienne and I went shopping today! I got a ring and two tops. We also ate this great restaurant for lunch called Club Architect! It was sooo good and reasonably priced! It was a nice atmosphere and good place to sit and enjoy your food. Class was good and chill. We watched part of Hamlet. Afterwards a small group of us stayed and watched the movie. It was interesting to say the least. We never know what we are getting into when we go to movie nights at the institute. But it’s part of the Czech culture which is interesting to see and learn about. I wouldn’t get to see these movies in the US most likely. Tomorrow, the Opera!

It’s Opera Night! Before class Adrienne and I walked around and checked out some shops before eating at the Grand CafĂ© with the Black Madonna. It was nice lunch and our waiter was really nice! Oh before that I made reservations at the train station and get this…the ladies behind me…from South Carolina! What!?! Small world. One of them had lived in Raleigh for 12 years! So awesome! She had been teaching in Germany in a small town on the Danish border for the summer and was traveling around before going home. So yea, small world. So anyway, after class we headed back to the pension to get ready for….THE OPERA! We were going to see Rusalka, a Czech opera similar to the little mermaid. All of us got dressed up which was fun (the heels were a bad idea). But it was awesome to get dressed up. We stop by a pizza place on the way and get pizza…so classy. Haha. Then it was off to the opera. We get there and the National Theater is gorgeous! We had really good balcony seats, right in the center. The opera was sort of long (3.5 hours) but it was so awesome to hear and watch! It was a great way to experience the arts with the Czech people in their National Theater. Til tomorrow!
